Last weekend I took a trip to Ikea in Croydon. Madness I hear you cry! Yes, it was madness but we tried to make the trip a little better by deciding to have some lunch afterwards to ease the pain a little. For once I did no research and we were about to stumble into Nando’s (what would we do without Nandos!) when we noticed a Mexican restaurant called Chiquito. I remember going there years ago before diagnosis and we quickly jumped on their website to see if they could provide any gluten free offerings and it appeared, after a very quick glance that sans gluten was an option! So, we thought we would give it a try. What happened next I was not expecting – my own gluten free menu. In addition to this, the menu was very extensive! After indulging far too much over Christmas I decided to opt for the slightly healthier option of the chicken fajita salad (just ignore the sour cream – this was, of course, calorie free!).
It was one of those dishes that tastes better than it photographs – it really was good and I would be very interested in trying some more their dishes. Chiquito is quite a large nationwide chain so with any luck there is one near you! Another restaurant to add to the ever growing list – thanks Chiquito!
