Last weekend I found an absolute gem of a place and I am in love! My Mum was visiting for the weekend and as she is coeliac like me I was keen to find somewhere nice for a spot of tea and gluten free cake. It was a beautiful day on Sunday so we thought we would have a saunter through Dorking and stop for a light bite. Gorgeous Gerties is a beautiful tea room and shop situated on West Street just off the High Street, I will let some photos do the talking:
I loved this place from the second I walked through the door and it just got better and better. I knew they did gluten free cakes but I didn’t know they also had gluten free bread. The one thing I miss when I want a light lunch and don’t fancy a salad or jacket potato is a simple toasted sandwich; I needed no persuasion and within minutes I had a yummy ham and cheese toastie teamed with a Hulk smoothie (broccoli, mango, banana, pineapple, spinach and celery!). My Mum opted for a piece of g/f carrot cake and I would say she enjoyed it as it was practically inhaled!
After our lovely bite to eat we had a mooch around the shop – if you love vintage, homemade and unique finds then you HAVE to pay Gorgeous Gerties a visit! I am going to be a very regular visitor and cannot wait for my next visit. They also do afternoon teas (best to book ahead) which is on my tick list!
I also wanted to add that the staff were lovely, I am sorry that I did not get the name of the lady who served us as she was so warm and welcoming. A truly fantastic find.
