Every year before Christmas I travel back to Wales for a shopping day with my Mum in Cardiff to buy any last minute presents – it’s become our little tradition and I love it. We, of course, always manage to squeeze in a little lunch time pit stop and try and go somewhere different each time. As I was exploring what Cardiff had to offer (a lot!) somebody mentioned the Cosy Club. I had never heard of them so popped on to their website to see what they were about. First off, they are a chain and have about 12 branches scattered across the UK. The decor is quirky, homely and casual and most importantly they have a gluten free menu – score! My Mum had never been so we thought we would pay them a visit. After a 20 minute wait (on a Monday at 2pm hence a popular spot!) we were seated.
The gluten free menu is relatively expansive and has a variety of choice to suit any palette. They serve all day brunch, a different option which was nice to see. We both went for the exact same dish – poached eggs on a toasted gluten free bun with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce. Oh, and a side of chips (must on a shopping trip pitstop!) They did have tripled cooked chips which sounded amazing but they were out – sad times but just means I need to go back! The food was delicious, the poached eggs were spot on and the waitress was very gluten free aware.
I am really sorry but I failed on the food picture front – it was packed and I felt a little conspicuous whipping my phone out to take a pic!
It was nice to try somewhere new and also to see a gluten free menu that was a little different to other menus I have seen. They did have puddings but unfortunately, we were a little too full to fit one in. Again, another excuse to return!
Thanks Cosy Club for a new place to dine 🙂
