This weekend I spent a few days in one of my favourite places in the world for my birthday – Cornwall. We stayed at the stunning Scarlet hotel which is in Mawgan Porth nestled between Newquay and Padstow. I heard some time ago that Rick Stein’s did gluten free fish and chips and really wanted to try them out. We headed up to Padstow on the Saturday evening and opted to sit in rather than take away as it was a tad chilly. They could batter any fish gluten free and it was fried separately. I plumped for plaice and also got a cheeky glass of prosecco.
This was really good fish and chips, lovely crisp batter and not at all soggy. Sat in the window overlooking the Camel Estuary I was certainly in my happy place.
I would definitely recommend and will, without a shadow of a doubt, return if I am in the area.
